Review
On my first listen to 10-Feet's newest single Buzzing released on October 27, 2004. I was ready to dismiss it simply on the over-the-top pop quality of the song and not for what it really is, a bad song.

As a die-hard-fan of all that is 10-Feet I tried to convince myself there had to be something redeemable in the perfectly synchronized chorus and pop rhythm of the instrumentals. As the hours passed and with repeated plays I found myself thinking of another of their songs with obvious pop influences like "Long Distance". I came to the realization that my distaste for "Buzzing" wasn't that it is pop or that it is a radical departure from their previously released works. It's simply because unlike "Long Distance," "Buzzing," I'm sorry to say, reminds me of a badly over-produced 80's pop song written exclusively to grace the background of some TV commercial. It was a shame to overshadow the B-sides of this CD with such a weak starter.

"Freedom," track 2, is typical 10-Feet. A mixture of rock and pop, with rap elements, it speeds along through each influence to the final guitar riff, degenerating into what 10-Feet is known for, punk. I can imagine this song in live performance and being more than pleased with the reaction it would have on an audience.

Log, track 3, was a pleasant surprise. This simple song with its pop-ska rhythms quietly lulls you into this world of whistle solos, but this is 10-Feet. With the sweetest chorus, the lyrics kiss my ass and kick the shit outa you are delivered with such sugar that they are unrecognizable as threats. Just as you sit up to take notice, a quiet pop guitar riff and you are again carried back into this sweet demented pop world 10-Feet has woven.

Though Buzzing didn't live up to my expectations. I do recommend listening to the B-sides of this single. (published 2005-12-13)
