Profile
All Tomorrow's Party knows the meaning of their existence. They believe their goal is to make and share melodic music in the same vein as pop rock music from the 1960s and '70s. When Love Love Straw disbanded, guitarist/vocalist Tetsuo Kitame and drummer Taro Ishikawa were immediately looking to create ATP. With the help of an old friend, Yoshitaka Asano, as bassist, they immediately started practicing together in Tokyo in early 2002. In the beginning, however, they had only played covers of songs by The Velvet Underground, which may come as no surprise to some, as their name is derived from the title of a Velvet Underground song.

Over time, ATP started to write their own music. However, Tetsuo Kitame wanted to have a different style of music with ATP, instead of keeping with the Love Love Straw flavor. Tetsuo's lyrics still remain mostly in English, just like Love Love Straw had done, but the music Tetsuo desires to make with ATP is different. Tetsuo describes his vision of ATP's music wanting to "sound like we are living in a spaceship and moving around the globe slowly." With a new atmospheric, darker, and fuzzy rock sound, All Tomorrow's Party was ready to release their first EP of 2002, hier ou demain, which was limited to 100 copies. Soon after hier ou demain, ATP released WIRED, which was also limited to 100 copies. Currently the band is searching for the best record label they can find, but in the meantime they have been releasing their CDs in limited supplies at their live shows.

After their busy first year together, All Tomorrow's Party started working on their first full album, tempation, which was released in 2004. Tetsuo considers it a very dark, personal album which was difficult for many fans to accept easily. Tetsuo looked to add more variety in the moods that the songs could bring up in listeners, when another EP, yoo doo right, was released in November of 2004. Only a month later, ATP released the follow up, yoo doo slide. Both EPs were limited to only 30 copies.

Self-managed and self-made, All Tomorrow's Party are trying to keep a simple style without the need of outside factors. Their goal is simply to make great music and give it to the fans in any way possible. Their website even has demos, lives, rare tracks, live video footage, and covers (ranging from songs by Frank Sinatra to the Strokes to Sunny Day Service) all for download.

Currently ATP is touring Japan and recently came out with their first American release with the very limited EPs in Japan of yoo doo right, yoo doo slide. It came out on one disc through Alive Records on August 23rd, 2005. In early January 2006, Yusuke Takahasi joined ATP as second guitarist. They're planning to release their next album GOOD REVERBERATION and tour the U.S. in the near future.
