R-P Gashu Murotake Yasuharu Fuyama Vocals, Guitar Guitar, Bass, Prog. Profile R-P's pop rock style is anything but ordinary. Drawing on the band's symphonic power metal roots, R-P's music exudes a musical presence not usually found in pop rock. The energy this duo infuses into their music is metallic power pop at it's best, as evidenced in the powerfully crafted instrumentals and vocals of "Like Before" and the acoustics of "You," or the punk inspired "The Prison For Your Mind." R-P's music is defined by acoustic or electric driven guitar, melodic harmonies and the masterful vocals of Gashu. Founding members, Gashu Murotake and Yasuharu Fuyama first met in high school. After playing in various cover bands they first formed the symphonic power metal band Holy Corrosion. In order to reach a larger audience the duo in 2000, decided to change their style to pop rock. Along with the change in style the band changed their name to R-P. In 2001, R-P recorded two songs "The Prison For Your Mind" and "Empty Room," entering them in the competition for the Yokohama Music Award in 2003, a monthly award sponsored by the radio station FM Yokohama. The song "Empty Room" won for the month of February of that year and soon after R-P entered Yasuharu's home studio to record their first album, Mellow. The album now available in the US at CD-Baby will be released in Japan on March 23, 2005. I first heard R-P's music through samples provided at their site. I was impressed enough to immediately order my copy of Mellow, I was not disappointed.
