Listening to FC FiVE's music is akin to being pumped full of so much adrenaline that one thinks they can stop bullets, jump over cars, or even take on that 7 foot musclehead standing in front of them in the grocery line. The hoarsely yelled vocals coupled with bone-crunching, melodic instruments inspire one to become a veritable Superman. It's angry, but at the same time garners a "you can do anything" attitude.

The band describes themselves mainly as "spazzcore," an ambiguous term often attributed to the spastic nature of bands like Frodus, The Bloodbrothers, and even Melt Banana to some extent. However, ther anthemic songs seem to share more in common with the early 90's hardcore movement elevated by legendary bands Strife and Snapcase, along with a smattering of influence from melodic hardcore giants 88 Fingers Louie and Rise Against. Many describe them as a bridge between the newer and older hardcore movements. Their tight, pounding songs with call and response choruses and grinding guitar sounds bring memories of the old, while their overall use of melodic changes brings home the new school.

Hailing from Ibaraki, a suburb of Tokyo, FC FiVE started in early 2000 as a five member band with two guitarists. One of their guitarists, Okano, left the band later that same year. Their original drummer, Shishi, was replaced by Kimura in June 2001. In August of that same year they released their second demo. This demo would later become the template for their first EP, Final Countdown Five, which was released on the Hong Kong label Gods Child Music. For a band that only started just a few years ago they've gone farther than most Japanese bands, rapidly gaining recognition all over the world. Because of the Gods Child's overseas connections and the band's extensive tour schedules, FC FiVE has garnered fans in not only the United States, but Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Singapore just to name a few countries.

However, the band doesn't just limit itself to recording and live performances. The members are also active in their local music scene as organizers of "SCREAMING FOR A CHANGE," an event that features bands from Japan as well as countries from all over the globe.

"We have it about three times a year. Usually it's in the nearby small town of Kashiwa. There have been eight so far, and every time we get a bunch of local, crazy hardcore fans. We've teamed up with some other local hardcore bands, and the hope is that we can gradually move hardcore to greater recognition." says guitarist Hiroto in an interview with POTS zine.

As of 2004 they have signed to Roadrunner Japan Inc. and plan to release a new album by June of 2005.
