Profile
Bring together 3 musicians that are not only talented but comfortable producing music both acoustically or electronically, mix light rock with a touch of jazz, and you have the band Anatakikou. From the cool pop-rock of "Arch Koete", the jazz inspired "Uroko No Nai Sakana", or the beautifully crafted acoustics of "Lily", the quiet beauty of Anatakikou melodies and vocals draw you in ever so innocently, and then demand you sit up and take notice of the band that created them.

Though founding members Houjoh Masaki, Matsuura Masaki and Fujii Toshimitsu performed together once as Anatakikou in 2001, they didn't actually become a band till 2002. In May of that year they released a 3-song demo CD-R featuring the song "Lily". First played by and then interviewed by the radio station FM802, during their "Midnight Garage" show. A music industry insider heard them and acquired a copy of their demo. They signed with Sonata Records [label] and released a re-mastered version of their demo as the maxi single Lily on November 27, 2002. Anatakikou cut their 3rd maxi single Sand Memotion on March 3, 2004.

I have always looked forward to more releases from this band, and on January 19th, 2005, Anatakikou debuted their first album sweet montage A. An icon to what is beautiful in pop music, it may yet rank as one of the top-ten albums for 2005. (updated 2005-01-19)
