Introduction
Coming along for the ride on the Benten Japan Girls Nite US Tour, the female fronted puppypet is an odd one. Sporting a trio of male performers and dual female vocalists, one of them playing the pianica, they play a unique form of pop punk laced with enka (Japanese folk music) stylings. Keikaku had a chance to ask leader Sachi a few questions about the band.

How would you describe your music?
Japanesque rock featuring two female vocalists. Stamina drink gives you a lot of energy.

Who has influenced your music? Bands? Artists? Non-musicians?
Japanese traditional music, children' songs, world's folk music.

What inspiration do you draw on to write your lyrics and music?
A visual fantasy appears in my head, then that image automatically comes out of my mouth as humming melody and words.

What is the hardest part about being in a band?
I never found it that difficult.

You're currently on tour in America. How do you like the US? Have you ever visited here before? Have you seen anything interesting, exciting, or strange?

When I was in school, I had a chance to be on a homestay program in Aberdine. On the last day of my stay, my host father and mother gave me a hug saying "No matter how far apart we must be, Sashi will always be our loving daughter". That was a very moving farewell.

I'm against possession of guns in America.

McDonalds in America serve everything in much bigger portion and that's great.

Americans are generally cheerful and frank. Fun to speak with even when you meet for the first time.

Having two female lead singers is very unique. How do you decide who sings what?
We split the vocal parts in a way that each of us can make the most of our vocal charactors.

All of you have online diaries. Has writing in diaries given you ideas for songs? Sachi's diary is especially hilarious. I enjoy the pictures of strange cars and people.
We feel so alive when we express our thoughts and send them out.

It's just that it happened to be melody, lyrics, musical instruments or Sachi's diary.

No matter how tiny those daily incidents may be, it's so important that you are as receptive possible, and the stimulation you get from it creates what you will be in the future.

Feel→create→dispatch

You'll rot if you stop

You'll die when you stop

Is there anything you would like to say to fans?
Once you had a chance to listen to Puppypet, I can tell that you end up singing our songs in your sleep. You may not realize it because you are sleeping, but there is no doubt about it.
