Could you tell our readers something of the history of the acoustics?
In the year of early 1997, Kadokura and his friends started acoustics. Several times various record companies of Japan were interested in our music and talked about contract, but always broke up. We have no contract with now. In 2003, Michi Nakao joined us and the foundation of the band was made.
What are some of the biggest difficulties the acoustics? have had to face?
Well, our music earns us no money.
How would you describe your music?
By colors. I draw the colors on the pictures in my head. Color of the sound, color of the words. It's something like painting. That's the way I describe my music.
Who has influenced your music?
First of all my elder sister does. Since I was a little boy she's always listening to music. That helped me to listen to many good music like The Beatles since I was a child. Talking about the artist, John Lennon is the most. I'm not sure I perfectly understand his messages but, his messages are surely alive in my mind.
What inspiration do you draw on to write your lyrics and music?
It is very difficult to explain. That happens when the glass in my head is filled. For example if I'm able to see your face now, that may gives me some images sometimes. There is nothing special about this.
What equipment do you use?
Very usual. Rickenbacker guitar, Gibson guitar etc.
Do you have any future or current live dates readers in Japan might be able to attend?
It's very sorry that we have no current live show because of members' situations. But we are surely going to have ones and inform on our web site as soon as the date is known.
Do you have any future or current releases we should be aware of?
Now we are making a new album. But we don't belong to any record company. So we are going to release it by ourselves, maybe it will be sold in a very small scale. Through Internet or something, we are going to find the way to deliver the album. But we are now still wondering about it. Anyhow we are going to discuss with record companies how to do it in a big scale.
What thoughts do you have on overseas fans and overseas tours?
We're filled with gratitude and really appreciate all of the fans. It's really fantastic and honorable for us that our music is widely listened to around the world. We want to play in many places as much as possible.
Is there anything you would like to say to fans?
Thank you for your listening and supporting. You really give us many big powers. That will help us grow in so many ways. We are very happy to give the growth back again to you. And finally let's get together and make music whole big art in the universe.
Interview from 2005.01.16. Keikaku.net staff would like to thank Keiji Kadokura, Michi Nakao and The acoustics for their participation in this interview.
